The Primary Health Care Department of Gezawa Local Government Area in Kano State has announced its readiness to commence a vaccination campaign against measles, cervical cancer, and other life-threatening diseases affecting children under the age of five.

Head of the department, Aisha Said Suwait, disclosed this in an interview with the Local Government Information Unit.

She emphasized the importance of parents, particularly mothers, ensuring that their children, especially girls under the age of nine, receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancer.

Aisha also appealed to healthcare workers in the area to show full commitment to the exercise, while calling on traditional and religious leaders to sensitize residents about the importance of vaccination.

She noted that cervical cancer is very difficult to treat, and prevention remains the best solution.

The Chairman of Gezawa Local Government Area, Mukaddas Bala Jogana, also highlighted the program as a government-led initiative designed to safeguard public health through immunization.

He urged residents to take advantage of the campaign by visiting designated centers with their children.

Mukaddas commended the health department for its efforts and pledged continuous monitoring of health facilities across the local government to ensure the smooth implementation of the program.
