The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (KSUBEB) in collaboration with YOUTHHUBAFRICA has developed a citizens engagement framework that would allow for citizens’ inputs in sustaining educational system management in the state for a better, operational, and sustainable education system developed based on citizens’ inputs.

Speaking during a two-day review and validation of citizen’s engagement framework for KSUBEB held in Kano, the Executive Director YOUTHHUBAFRICA Mr Rotimi Olawale stated that the review and validation would allow stakeholders to contribute to the development and shaping of the educational system. According to him, similar activity has been conducted in some selected states with the hope of replicating it in all 36 states in the country.

He explained that they have been working closely with the state governments for easy institutionalization of the framework that will encourage a sense of ownership among citizens.

Earlier in his opening remark, KSUBEB Chairman Malam Yusuf Kabir stated that the framework will undeniably foster strong relationships; and ensure ownership, accountability, and transparency in the management of public resources, especially schools.

He added that it is important to note that today’s SUBEB operates with a commitment to transparency, having nothing to conceal regarding resource allocation and utilization, as the system in operation upholds an open and transparent system in all its financial dealings
