The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has commended the Federal Fire Service (FFS) Kano Command and the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) for their collaborative efforts in promoting fire safety awareness and prevention across the state.
He gave the commendation during a fire safety training session held on Thursday in Kano for 100 members of POWA. The training, organized by the Federal Fire Service in conjunction with the Kano State Police Command, forms part of activities marking the 2025 Fire Safety Week.
The Police Commissioner, who was represented at the event, described the initiative as a “valuable opportunity” for participants to acquire life-saving skills in basic fire safety and firefighting techniques.
“I am honored to be part of this training initiative organized by the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, in collaboration with the Police Command.
“The training of 100 police officers and hoteliers was a significant milestone, and I am delighted to see its continuation with today’s session for members of the Police Officers Wives Association,” CP Bakori said.

He praised the State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, for his innovative leadership and sustained commitment to building safer communities through fire prevention and response education.
CP Bakori also lauded the leadership of POWA in Kano for prioritizing the welfare and well-being of police officers’ families, urging participants to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and serve as advocates for fire safety within their neighborhoods.
“Your role in promoting fire safety awareness in your communities cannot be overstated,” he emphasized. “I do not doubt that you will find this training informative and beneficial.”
The CP reaffirmed the command’s readiness to continue partnering with the Federal Fire Service in its mission to enhance public safety and fire prevention efforts in Kano State.
He concluded by expressing appreciation to all stakeholders, the media, and guests for their support in advancing safety education and community resilience.
