Kano State Executive Council has rolled out fresh approvals worth N14.8 billion to fast-track key projects in health, infrastructure, water supply, and rural development.
According to a statement on Friday by the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the decisions were reached at the 30th Council Meeting, chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Kwankwasiyya City Council Chamber, as part of the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-focused governance.
Highlights of Approved Projects
Massive road works: Jaba–Gayawa Road, Dakata–Yadakunya Road dualisation, and Badgery–Yusuf Road construction.
Social impact projects: Conversion of Gaya Orphanage Home into a Female Drug Reformatory Institute and building a Standard Transit Centre in Gaya LGA.
Health sector boost: Renovation of maternity hospitals, upgrade of the School of Health Technology Bebeji, provision of solar energy systems for five maternity facilities, and fresh drug supplies to major hospitals.
Water and rural development: Fuel supply to keep water facilities running and rehabilitation of five mini earth dams in Madobi, Gwarzo, Garun Malam, Kibiya, and Ajingi LGAs.
Bigger Fiscal Push
In addition, the Council ratified a N889.3 billion supplementary budget, representing a N169.5 billion increase over the original 2025 budget. This adjustment will strengthen the government’s capacity to meet pressing development needs.
Governor Yusuf assured residents that every naira will be spent with the public’s interest at heart.
“These projects reflect our strategic approach to rebuilding Kano. We are determined to deliver real, tangible benefits to our people,” he said.
The supplementary budget has been sent to the Kano State House of Assembly for speedy legislative action.
