Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano have resolved to move on after losing the Governorship Tussle at the Supreme Court last week.
The Supreme Court had in a lead Judgment read by Justice Inyang Okoro reversed the decision of the court of appeal, which upheld the judgment of the Kano State governorship election petition tribunal sacking Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The tribunal had declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna winner of the election.
The APC stakeholders met in Abuja to review the affairs of the party after the judgment and to create an avenue that will unite members.
In a communiqué signed by Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman House of Representatives committee on Petroleum resources (Upstream) and the Chief of staff to the APC National chairman Muhammad Garba, the party thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “for his support and love for Kano State and his commitment towards the progress and development of the party in the state and the country in general.”
The communiqué said the stakeholders meeting also resolved that “As progressive and largest political party in Africa, and in line with the initiative of its national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the doors of APC in Kano remained open for hundreds of new members willing to join.”
“Also, in order to enhance unity, progress and development of Kano State, the stakeholders’ meeting expressed commitment to continue to pursue the path of dialogue with individuals, associations or political parties ready to join the APC,” the communiqué reads.
The stakeholders meeting presided over by the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, had Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; APC governorship and deputy governorship candidates, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and Murtala Sule Garo; Minister of State Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo; Minister of State Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure; Kano APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas and a host of others in attendance.
