Kano State Ministry of Education has approved Sunday 30th April and Tuesday 2nd May as resumption dates in all primary, boarding, and day secondary schools across the state for the second term.

The resumption date was announced in a statement on Saturday by the Director of Public Enlightenment Ministry of Education, Aliyu Yusuf.

According to the statement, Parents/Guardians are reminded that Sunday 30th April 2023 remains the resumption date for all boarding primary and post-primary schools across the state from the 2nd term/ Ramadan Vacation, while the day schools are to resume on Tuesday 2nd May 2023.

“The reminder became necessary so as to dispel the widespread rumor that the population census will commence on the 3rd May 2023, therefore due to restrictions of movement characterized by the exercise, the schools should remain closed till after the National Headcount.

“Against that background similarly, the Federal Government via a Press Release signed by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammad, disclosed that the National Headcount has been suspended indefinitely pending the determination of the new administration about to be sworn-in come 29th May 2023.

“While expressing appreciation for the cooperation and support been accorded to the ministry, Commissioner Rt. Hon. Ya’u Abdullahi Yan’shana urged Parents /Guardians of Pupils and Students of the schools to ensure compliance with the approved resumption dates,” the statement added.

He, therefore, stressed that appropriate Disciplinary Action awaits defaulting students.
