Jigawa State Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Accountability Forum (JiMAF) has commiserated and sympathized with the people of the Majia community, Taura LGA, and the Jigawa state government over tragic death that occurred as a result of a petrol tanker explosion on Wednesday killing over 150 people and many others hospitalized.

In a statement, JiMAF Secretary Isah Mustapha said the forum identifies with family, friends, and relatives who lost loved ones and breadwinners.

“We share your sadness and pray for Almighty Allah to accept their martyrdom.

“We also commend the commitment of the Jigawa State Governor, and the state government for identifying with the people of Majia and supporting the injured,” the statement added.

While calling on all the citizens of Jigawa State and Nigeria at large to pray for the souls of the dead and speedy recovery for the injured, JiMAF called on the state government to declare three-day mourning.

“We commend the efforts of the state and call on the state and federal government to support the family of the deceased and the victims with accommodation, food, and medicines.

“We call on citizens to take proactive measures and avoid areas where similar accident happens.”

JiMAF is a conglomeration of different Civil Society Organizations, Media, and Government representatives working to facilitate the reduction of maternal and child morbidity and mortality to the barest minimum.
