Jigawa Student Emerges Winner of World AI Competition In China

A level 500 student of the Department of Computer Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Abdullahi Ahmad Bello, has emerged winner of the world students’ competition on Artificial Intelligence (AI) held in the Republic of China.

Abdullahi who is an indigen of Babura Local Government of Jigawa state had earlier emerged winner of the regional competition held in South Africa.

Presenting the winner before the Jigawa State Executive Council, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Isa Yusuf Chamo said, Abdullahi emerged as the winner at the world competition which was participated by 42 countries.

He told the state governor that, Abdullahi Ahmad and Adam Isa Adam of Roni Local government who also participated in the competition are proud sons of Jigawa state and they are a reflection of the state government’s huge investment in education and new hope for a better future.

In his comment, the Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, expressed his happiness for the innovation created by the student which made him emerge a winner at the world AI student competition.

Governor Namadi added that the Jigawa state government and all the good people of the state are proud of Abdullahi Ahmad Bello and Adam Isa Adam for their talent and outstanding academic performance.

He also offered them scholarships for Masters and Ph.D as soon as they finished their first degree.

In his remarks the winner of the World Artificial Intelligence AI Competition, Abdullahi Ahmad Bello, revealed that some of the inventions he made included, developing AI software that can detect Breast Cancer,

He also developed a Robot that can detect flood waves before they occur and AI eyeglasses that can convert written script into voice, in three different languages namely Hausa, Yoruba, and English.

Abdullahi also thanked the Jigawa state government for its support and encouragement and promised to continue to make Jigawa proud of its children and use their skills and knowledge to find solutions to human and ecological challenges
