Jigawa Signs 5th MoU on Education, Health, Agriculture, Good Governance with FCDO

Jigawa state Government has signed a 5th memorandum of Understanding with the United Kingdom Organization known as the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) for supporting good governance, Economic and Human Capital Development in the state

Speaking before the signing of the MoU held at Dutse Government House, the state governor Malam Umar Namadi said, the occasion was another important milestone in strengthening the partnership between the UK and Jigawa state spinning for over two decades.

He explained that the mutual relationship had yielded fruitful results that benefited both parties over the years while sustaining it is so important and necessary, adding that the 5th MoU was signed under the Jigawa Mutual Accountability Framework (JiMAF) covering four Symantec areas, including Education, Health, Agriculture, Good governance, and social protection.

“Under education, we will partner on improving Foundation Skills Learning, Teachers recruitment/Teachers quality, and General Learning Outcome.

“For the Health sector, the MoU will work toward reducing child and maternal mortality, improving access to basic healthcare and manpower for health. social protection that covers child nutrition, women, and vulnerable economic empowerment intervention.

“Agricultural development, revenue generation, accountability, and good governance are included.”

The Governor assured FCDO that the Jigawa state will stand by the agreement, and it will do everything possible to achieve the desired goals.

In his speech at the occasion, the Development Director at FCDO, Dr. Christopher Pycropt said, that under the framework for the partnership they will provide technical and financial intervention.

He noted that the Jigawa State Technical Committee will supervise the implementation and evaluate it quarterly, while at the end of the year, FCDO and the committee will review the report and evaluate the implementation, for necessary correction, improvement, and adjustment.

Dr Pycopt then, expressed confidence in the continued growth of the alliance, envisioning a future where Jigawa State becomes a beacon of progress for other subnational governments and development partners.
