Jigawa Honours 50 Prominent Women

Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs has presented an award of honour to 50 prominent women who excelled in public and humanitarian services which contributed to the upliftment of women’s life in the state and beyond.

The award presentation and public lecture was part of activities organized to mark the celebration of 2024 International Women Day held at Ahmadu Bello Hall, Dutse Capital on Saturday.

Speaking at the occasion, the wife of Jigawa State Governor, Hadiza Umar Namadi, said the occasion was beyond ceremony but it was a time for sober reflection on the efforts made by successive government and individuals to improve the life of the women.

She explained that, women being one of the vulnerable group in the society,, they deserved special empowerment and other consideration to enable them contribute for social and economic development in the society.

She than called on the women to wake up and utilize any opportunity given to them to support their children education, inculcate moral discipline in their minds of chicken and also engage in any lawful business for them to become self-reliance and equally contributed to the family economy.

Mrs Namadi however stated that, the awardees were selected based on their dictation and selfless commitment for the women development and society, they were all presented at the occasion for inspiring youn generation to work hard for attainable exalted position in the society.

In her speech the State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Hadiza Abdulwahab said, that since the inception of Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, into office he accorded special priority to women’s empowerment and inclusion into governance.

She added that, the state government has selected the awardees for the merit award so as the young generation can learn from them and take their life as role model for their outstanding achievement academic, humanitarian and public service.

Those honoured included former Jigawa state First Lady, Zahrau Saminu Turaki, Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje, former minister of Education professor Rukayya Ahmad Rufai, former commissioners Hajiya Dr, Rabi Ishaq, Dr. Hassana Hussaini Adamu, Fatima Widi Jallo, Yalwa Da’u, , Stella Esedumme of Action Against Hunger, Comrade Shuaibu Kafin Gana of JISOP among others.
