Jigawa Environment Thematic Group Lauds Government for Reactivating Sanitation Day

Today many people in all 27 local government areas across the state observed the sanitation day, individuals, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating in environmental areas fully participated in the sanitation exercise.

The people have answered the call of the state and local governments in observing the day.

Comrade Ahmed Ilallah is the Lead of the State Environment Thematic Group, an umbrella of the CBOs and CSOs on the environment under NET-JIC.

He praised the effort of the state Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, and the Honourble Commissioner of Environment for the reactivation of Saturday’s sanitation day at the end of every month.

He said the coalition commended the adherence of the people across the state for participating in the sanitation exercise, for cleaning and sanitizing their environment.

He emphasized that sanitation is very important and a prerequisite for a healthy environment. Sanitation provides an overall healthy living environment, regular sanitation also enhances safety, dignity, and security for our environment, the state lead said.

Comrade Ilallah calls on the public to be committed to all environmental activities, including the mass advocacy against deforestation, and to make tree planting part of our habit, especially with the challenge of global warming and climate change affecting the state.

The environment thematic lead urged all the partner CBOs and CSOs to continue sensitizing the public against defects in the open place, this will completely eliminate many diseases including the severe ones.

He also urged the state government and the Ministry of Environment to partner with CSOs in the state for environmental development.

Safeguarding the environment is a work for all.
