The Chairman of Sule Tankarkar Local Government (LGA) in Jigawa State, Hon. Ahmed Sale Damzomo, has faulted the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) for its failure to make any significant intervention to border communities, particularly in Jigawa state despite huge challenges militate them over the years.

Hon Sale Damzomo made the remarks in an interview with newsmen in his office.

He said Sule Tankarkar’s LGA has the longest border shared with the Niger Republic in Jigawa state and this made the local government to be vulnerable to the occasional’ disease outbreak and influx of other social and economic challenges.

“We made to understand the border Communities Development Agency was established for making special intervention to the targeted communities being always at receiving end in executing a developmental project for sustainable social, economic and infrastructure development.”

“As you can see now, the special round of Cerebrum Spinal Meningitis vaccination exercise is currently going on in our local government following the outbreak of the disease which killed 3 people in the ‘last two months.  We are always prone to such diseases outback, because of our long border sharing with the Niger Republic and other existing challenges.

“We observed it with dismay, in Sule Tankarkar local government no single project executed by the Commission at any of our Boarder Community, this is very unfortunate.

“The Commission on different occasions engaged us in discussion and meetings, during every meeting we used to tell them our challenges and the kind of intervention we need from them, but till today all their promises remain a mirage.”

Hon Damzomo then called on President Bolas Ahmad Tinibu, and the Director General of the Agency to review the activities and the allocation of the Agency, and make all necessary changes to make it vibrant and perform to its expectation.

The Chairman promised to continue mobilizing the border communities to give all needed cooperation to the security agencies for promoting security and safeguarding the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
