Jigawa Approves N1.1b for Basic Education Infrastructure

Jigawa State Government has approved N1,144,319,336,16k  for the construction and renovation of classrooms at various primary and junior secondary schools across the state.

Speaking at the bid opening for awarding the contract, the Director Works State Universal Basic Education Board Architecture Usain Sulaiman  Sa’id, there is a total of 67 lots for the 3rd and 4th quarter UBEC/SUBEB 2022 intervention projects.

The Director who was represented by Deputy Director Works Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim explained that the contract to be awarded to the winning bidders included the construction of 84 new classrooms and the renovation of 204 existing ones.

“Other works are the construction of 14 offices 35 blocks of 4 seat toilet, procurement of 9, 511 of three seater student’s seat and COVID-19 protection materials.”

“The contract will be awarded to successful and qualified companies in accordance with the Jigawa state procurement law” Director declared

He however commended the state governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for his commitment and concern for the development of basic Education as he has never failed in timely releases of money to the board for executing projects in the last eight years.

” We are proud to say Jigawa SUBEB/UBEC intervention is up to date, we don’t have any carryover, and the counterpart  funding is always paid when due, this enables us to access the UBEC funds and consequently execute all the targeted projects in time”

“We have recorded significant improvement in the Jigawa state basic Education in the last seven year and indeed this strengthen the outcome of our children’s foundation skills for effective advance learning, we thank Almighty God and we also thank our patriotic governor,” Usaini stated.
