As a potential prelude to a physical invasion of Lebanon, Israel proclaimed three communities along its northern border “closed military zones” on Monday.
Only military personnel are permitted to enter and leave the neighborhoods under this order. Metula, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi are the towns.
The directive does not guarantee that Israeli forces will strike Lebanon right away. Declared closed military zones can also be established in areas where an immediate threat is found.
However, in recent days, the Israeli army has significantly increased the number of soldiers near its border with Lebanon, and its commanders have stated that they are ready to deploy more forces should the government so direct.
