Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) has completed the renovation and upgrade of Dambatta and Getso cattle markets in Dambatta and Gwarzo local government areas.

Similarly, the execution renovation of the Falgore, Wudil, and Dumbulum cattle markets is on track for speedy completion.

The State Project Coordinator, KSADP, Malam Ibrahim Garba Muhammad dislodged this while conducting the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmud around some of the project sites, including the Dambatta Cattle market and Tattarawa Milk Collection Center in Dambatta and Dawakin Tofa local government areas.

It could be recalled that the project had budgeted over N300 million under the 2023 fiscal year, to provide loading and off-loading ramps, watering facilities, office space for market information, security and veterinary services, lighting for trade and security at night as well as toilet facilities in the five markets.

“The essence of this work, which is community-driven, is to modernize the markets, reduce loss of condition in marketed animals, including reduction of mortality during transportation, and generally ensure sound social and environmental impact.”

Malam Garba also told the commissioner that the project had completed construction of 28 out of the 24 Milk Collection Center contracts it awarded across Kano this year.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmud, appreciated the Islamic Development Bank and Lives and Livelihood Funds for embarking upon impactful projects, through the Kano Agro-Pastoral Development Project.

“I am happy with the quality of the civil works I have seen I have seen at the project sites. I am also pleased that the KSADP has recorded many successes so far.”
