Iran’s Top Leader Supports Military Action Against Israel

Stephen Enoch

Iran’s Tuesday attack on Israel was praised by supreme leader Khamenei, who also described it as entirely “legal.”

According to him, what they did was Israel’s “minimum punishment” for their “astonishing crimes.”

In the region, he refers to the US as a “rabid dog” and Israel as a “vampire” dictatorship. He declares that the Islamic Republic will use “strength and fortitude” to carry out “any related duties” against Israel.

He reiterates twice that Iran will not “procrastinate” or “hesitate” with regards to Israel.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a rare sermon at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla Mosque, emphasizing the “unity” of Muslims worldwide based on the principles of the Islamic holy book, the Quran.

He stated that Iran’s enemy is the same as the enemy of Palestinian states, Lebanon, and other Muslim nations. Khamenei holds the title of Tehran Friday prayer leader but usually assigns the sermons to a rotating cast of subordinates. Iranian media reported that he will deliver a part of his speech in Arabic, addressing Lebanese and Palestinians.

The sermons come three days before the first anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel, which triggered the current regional war. The last time Khamenei delivered his Friday prayer was shortly after Iranian General Qasem Soleimani died in a US drone attack near Baghdad’s airport in 2020 and subsequent Iran’s attack on US military bases in Iraq.
