The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of returns to Sokoto state Governor-elect, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir and 30 state Assembly members elect.
The certificate of return to the Governor-elect was presented by the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, Professor Mohammed Sani Kalla in the presence of heads of all security agencies in the state at the Conference hall of the electoral umpire in Sokoto.
The acting Residence Electoral commissioner in the state Hajiya Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa in a brief ceremony held today Thursday at the INEC office in Sokoto, said the presentation of certificates of return to the Political office holders followed their elections under their various political platforms in the last concluded Gubernatorial and state Assembly Elections in the state.
The Governor-elect Ahamed Aliyu Sokoto and his Deputy Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir were elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18th Gubernatorial and state Assembly Elections held in the state.
The 30 State Assembly Members elect who also received certificates of return from INEC, consist of 20 members elected under the All progressives Congress (APC) and 10 elected under the People’s Democratic Party PDP.
The elected members are, Umar Tukur Binji APC, Magaji Abubakar Bodinga PDP, Bala Tukur Bodinga APC, Mohammed Sarajo Dange Shuni, Saudi Kabiru Gada East APC, Awaisu M Aliyu Gada west APC, Adamu Nasiru Goronyo PDP, Yahaya Amadu Gudu APC, Idris Bello Gwadabawa north APC, Sidi Faruku Gwadabawa South APC, Sirajo Abubakar Danjimma Illela APC, Habibi Halilu Modachi Isa PDP, Kabiru Ibrahim Kware APC, Hamisu Samaila Kebbe APC, Alhaji Zakari Abdullahi Rabah APC, Almustapha Aminu Gobir Sabon Birni North APC, and Ibrahim Saidu Naino Sabon Birni South APC.
Others are Masa’ud Mohammed Shagari PDP, Haliru Buhari Sokoto North 1 PDP, Hussaini Tukur Faru Sokoto North II APC, Abdullahi Almustapha Sokoto Sokoto South 1 APC, Aminu Garba Gidado Sokoto south II APC, Hantsi Sule Romo Tambuwal west PDP, Isah Buhari Tambuwal East PDP, Aliyu Lumo Tangaza APC, Mohammed Randa Abdullahi Tutera PDP, Lamido Abubakar Wamakko APC, Aliyu Shamsu Wurno APC, Abubakar Shehu Yabo APC, and Atiku Liman Silame PDP.
By the certificates of return presented to the state Assembly Members elect, the All progressives Congress APC has a two-thirds majority in the state legislative Assembly.
In his remarks shortly after receiving the certificate, the Sokoto state Governor Elect Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto thanked INEC for conducting a free and fair election in the state which made him emerge victorious.
He also thank the state party leader Senàtor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the state APC chairman Alhaji Isah Sadeeq Achida, the entire APC supporters and teeming of the state for their massive support and encouragement during the campaign, and subsequent Eleçtion in the state
He described his victory as a victory for the entire people of the Sokoto state.
