Ibadan Stampede: Ooni’s Ex-Queen Naomi Remanded in Prison

Naomi Silekunola, an ex-queen of the Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi has been remanded at Agodi Correctional Center.

Silekunola was remanded in the correctional facility Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi who presided over her link with the stampede that occurred on Wednesday at the Islamic High School in Bashorun area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The former queen of the traditional leader was remanded alongside the principal of the school, Abdullahi Fasasi; the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat.

The ruling of the Magistrate followed a four-count charge slammed on the ex-queen and other defendants by the police prosecutor.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants’ actions were contrary to Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

The defendants were arraigned amid heavy security and according to the court, would be at the correctional facility pending advise from the state prosecutor.
