Hadejia Emirate Distributes N14.1m Zakkat to Needy in Jigawa

In Jigawa State, the Hadejia Emirate Zakkat Committee has commenced the 2026 distribution of N48 million worth of Zakkat across the Emirate, with beneficiaries in Lafiya Village, Guri Local Government Area, and Dakaiyyawa District in Kaugama Local Government Area receiving food items and livestock valued at over N14.1 million.

Speaking shortly after the distribution exercise in Dakaiyyawa District, the Secretary of the Zakkat Committee, Engineer Ismail Garba, disclosed the details to the Local Government Information Officer, Musa Muhammad Hadejia.

He stated that the items distributed included 195 bags of guinea corn, 85 bags of rice, 59 bags of millet, 46 goats and sheep, and eight cows, all aimed at supporting vulnerable families within the district.

According to him, the exercise forms part of the Emirate’s broader plan to distribute N48 million worth of Zakkat for the 2026 season, beginning with the inauguration at Lafiya Village in Guri Local Government Area.

The Chairman of the Zakkat Committee, Talban Hadejia, Barrister AbdulFatah Abdulwahab Taheer, who was represented by Wakilin Yan’kasuwa, Muhammad Garba Dankundi, said the committee was on a working tour to ensure the distribution of the 2026 Zakat in all districts under the Emirate.

He explained that the tour was aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in the allocation of the Zakat funds and items to deserving beneficiaries.

In separate sermons, Dr. Umar Nasarawa and Malam Abdullahi Gaje of Guri urged wealthy individuals to continue giving out Zakkat from their wealth, stressing that it purifies their earnings and attracts divine blessings and multiplication.

Delivering a vote of thanks, the District Head of Dakaiyyawa, Dallatun Hadejia, Sambo Usman Ginsau, commended the wealthy individuals who contributed to the Zakkat and praised members of the Zakkat Committee for their commitment and time spent in ensuring successful distribution.

The 2026 Zakkat distribution exercise is expected to continue across other districts within the Hadejia Emirate in the coming weeks.
