Group Eulogize Governor Namadi for Institutionalizing Anti-Corruption Agency in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Transparency and Anti-Corruption (TAIN) on Friday applauded Governor Umar Namadi for the institutionalization of an anti-graft Commission in the state.

The Chairman of the association Comrade Ahmed Ilallah, who’s also an Anti-Corruption Technical Working Group Lead of Jigawa State Open Governance  Partnership (OGP), emphasizes the action as timely and desirable as this time is working of adhering to public financial discipline with accountability and transparency.

He said the effort is a result of long advocacy convent by many Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and development partners for the state to have the anti-corruption commission.

“We commended also the Jigawa State House of Assembly for the legal framework of the Commission.

“Governor Namadi’s appointment of Barrister Salisu Abdu as the pioneer Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (JSPCACC) and also the appointment of Barrister Yakubu Ibrahim as the Secretary of the Commission and other members of the Commission is a timely development.

“The Governor shows his anxiety about activating this Commission by the award of a contract for the construction of a permanent office of the Commission, it is illustrious of the permanent war against corruption in the State.

“The development will also help in ensuring proper accountability and transparency in the management of public funds and the citizens now have an adit to report their complaints.

“We urged the citizens and all the stakeholders to understand the system and the danger of corruption in society and to become good partners to the Commission and the government in fighting against corruption,” he added.
