Governor Yusuf Urges Regular Security Meetings At LG Level

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on local government councils across the state to hold regular security meetings as part of efforts to strengthen vigilance, coordination, and intelligence sharing at the grassroots level.

‎This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.

Speaking during the State Security Council meeting held on Thursday at the Government House, Kano, Governor Yusuf underscored the need for closer collaboration between communities and security agencies to enhance proactive response to emerging threats.

The meeting was attended by heads of various security formations, including the Commandants of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Navy; the Kano State Commissioner of Police; and the Commandants of the NSCDC and NDLEA.

Also present were the Comptrollers of Correctional Service, Immigration, and Customs, alongside representatives from NAPTIP, FRSC, ICPC, ALGON, and the Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government Area.

Governor Yusuf identified Shanono, Tsanyawa, Tudun Wada, Doguwa, and Gwarzo as local government areas requiring special security attention due to their exposure to various threats.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property, describing security as the top priority of his government.

“We must continue to work together from the grassroots to the state level to safeguard lives and property,” the Governor said.

Governor Yusuf also sympathized with communities affected by recent security challenges and assured residents of the government’s continued efforts to ensure safety and stability across the state.
