Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, giving legal backing to the state’s budget for the 2026 fiscal year.

The assent ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, shortly after the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Zuru, formally presented the approved bill to the governor.

The 2026 Appropriation Law provides for a total expenditure of ₦642,930,818,157.99, covering both recurrent and capital spending for the year.

Speaking at the event, Speaker Zuru said the House considered and passed the budget in strict compliance with constitutional provisions. He explained that lawmakers thoroughly examined the bill before approving it and transmitting it to the governor for assent.

Zuru also disclosed that the 10th Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed 60 bills within the first two years of the current administration, all of which have received the governor’s approval. He reaffirmed the legislature’s continued support for the policies and programmes of the state government.

In his remarks, Governor Idris expressed appreciation to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly for their cooperation and commitment to the legislative process. He noted that the cordial working relationship between the executive and legislature has enhanced effective governance in the state.

The governor stressed that successful implementation of the 2026 budget would largely depend on improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to complement federal allocations, which he described as insufficient to meet the state’s growing needs.

He said the budget prioritises projects and programmes aimed at improving service delivery across Kebbi State and assured that necessary adjustments would be made to ensure effective implementation.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with all arms of government to achieve the objectives of the 2026 budget.
