Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has nominated Mr. Jerry Jiminbee Ashwe as a Member of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
The nomination was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson to the Governor, Mr. Tersoo Kula, and has been forwarded to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Mr. Ashwe hails from Gwer-West Local Government Area of the state and, upon confirmation, will represent the people of Ichongo-Tiev constituency, which comprises Lobi and Gwer communities, at the commission.
The appointment is intended to fill the vacancy created by the death of Hon. Aikieghe Deva, who previously represented the area on the commission.
Mr. Ashwe holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree and has extensive experience in public service.
He is currently an Admin and Personnel Manager at the New Nigeria Timber Company (NNTC) and has also served as a Personnel Assistant with the Teaching Service Board.
The House of Assembly is expected to consider the nomination in line with its constitutional responsibilities.
