Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has revealed his plan to provide a new future for the 12,000 Hisbah officers, who their dismissed by the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, with the possibility of establishing an independent Hisbah Commission to continue carrying out religious and moral affairs.

Ganduje made this known while receiving the report of a committee he set up to assess the situation of the dismissed officers.

The officers affected include the Hisbah Corps, Hisbah Marshal, and the Advisory Unit. “This Independent Hisba Commission will be established under the Ganduje Foundation,” Dr Ganduje said.

The committee is headed by the former Commander of the Kano State Hisbah, Dr. Haruna Ibn Sina, together with the former Managing Director of KAROTA, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, and other senior scholars.

The report contains detailed information and recommendations on ways to revive the services of the dismissed officers and ensure their sustainable future.
