FG to Establish Military Barrack in Sokoto East

The Federal Government says it will deploy more troops to Sokoto East to fight insecurity in the state.

The minister of state for defence Bello Mohammad Matawalle disclosed this in Isa and Sabon Birni local government areas of Sokoto State.

He said his visit was to assess the performance of troops deployed to boost their morale.

Addressing troops at a Military camp in Isa, the minister emphasized that, his ministry would provide accommodation to troops to enhance their morale and boost their performance.”

“I want to give severe warning to informants and their syndicates that, anyone caught in the act will be executed on the sport no matter his position in the society.”

Banditry has displaced many Communities along Isa/Marnona road which was since deserted by motorists.

“We provide enough troops to help communities return to their villages to continue with their normal life.

“Fed Government is working to ensure that all communities return to their villages within the shortest possible time.”

Speaking at Hawan Drum a deserted village in Sabon Birni local government, the minister reassured that, security will be provided for the community to return to the village and harvest their crops in a peaceful atmosphere.

The visit to the area is the first of its kind by any minister of defense since when the fall to bandits in 2017.

He further advised communities to join hands with the government in its effort to free the area of criminals giving sleepless nights to the rural committees.

During the visit by the minister, our correspondent observed that thousands of heaters of farmlands were seen unattended by farmers.

The Minister went round the deserted villages to see things for himself and assured of Federal commitment to flush out bandits from the area.
