The Federal Government of Nigeria has concluded plans to roll out major interventions in Plateau State aimed at tackling youth unemployment, improving socio-economic development, and addressing security challenges.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang disclosed this following a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Presidential Regulatory Committee on Technology Transfer, Mohammed Dahiru, alongside security expert, Suleiman D. El-ladan, at the Government House in Rayfield, Jos, on Saturday

During the visit, Dahiru conveyed the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre in Jos.

The initiative, to be implemented under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, is designed to equip youths with practical and employable skills, thereby reducing their vulnerability to crime.

He further revealed plans for a 1,000-megawatt power project to be developed across Northern Nigeria through a proposed New Nigerian Energy Company in partnership with the United States.

Plateau State has been selected as one of the pilot locations for the initiative, which is expected to boost electricity supply, stimulate economic activities, and enhance regional stability.

Dahiru also extended condolences to the state government over recent security incidents and reaffirmed the committee’s readiness to collaborate on sustainable solutions.

Speaking, Rear Admiral El-ladan stressed the need to strengthen security frameworks in the state. He disclosed plans to deploy advanced security infrastructure under a “Community-Led Integrated Focus Protection Framework,” backed by international partnerships.

According to him, the initiative will improve threat prevention, detection, and rapid response, ultimately ensuring lasting peace and security in Plateau State.
