The Development Control Department of the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA) has demolished the secretariat/association’s office of Games Village Estate without prior notice.

While confirming the development, the president, Games Village Resident Association, Abuja, Alhaji Bukola Musiliu Adisa said the Department of Development Control of FCDA broke into the estate around 10 am with armed men, destroyed the fence, the automated gate, and finally demolished the association’s secretariat built by the federal government for the use of the group.

He said the Development Control allocated the Games Village secretariat land for the FCDA staff quarters, adding that upon hearing, the association complained to the minister in which the minister halted all construction work and also seized all allocations.

He said, “Games Village Association Secretariat is to be used to manage the estate, ensuring the security and welfare of the residents are in place.

“We don’t know how the Development Control now came without notice and destroyed our properties, demolished the building, all our property, all the furniture are gone, our records in which we monitor the estate with, our gate, everything they saw.”

The environmental secretary, Games Village, Stella Nnodi, disclosed that there was no prior notice as it was an ambush.

She added that the staff were carrying out their duties when the demolition started. According to her, the FCDA doesn’t have the jurisdiction to demolish the building.

Nnodi further appealed to the federal government to come to the community’s rescue and look into the matter.

Another staff member of the secretariat, Eniolorunda Ruth further stated that she was still in shock as all the staff were inside the building, including her baby when the demolition started.
