The Kukah Centre for Peace Building in partnership with other international organizations has advocated for the government at all levels to end all forms of description against women and other marginalized members of society in the fight against poverty and insecurity to achieve the desired result.

This was the resolution that reached a one-day northwest post-election town hall meeting on participatory governance, women, peace, and security organized by KUKAH Centre in collaboration with Global Right held in Sokoto.

Speaker after speaker at the meeting blamed the high level of insecurity and poverty in the northwest on the years of suppression of women, persons living with disability, and other vulnerable members of the society in the government decisions making process.

Women and other members of society were urged to contribute their quota to nation-building by raising their children to be good citizens and not to be part of sponsors and financiers of terrorist acts.

Participants at the one-day program dueled on the 2023 elections atrocities in the Northwest and what was lost in the region during the unfortunate happening.

Participants also explore ways of how best to prevent election atrocities and post-election violence in the region.

A short video clip titled Gang of Naija – Northwest on atrocities committed by insurgents and political thugs during the election was showcased to the participants and was moderated by Amina Joy Jatau Gender and social inclusive officer of Kukah Center.

Panels of discussants at the workshop however exchange ideas on managing diversity during campaigns and elections as well as challenges and opportunities in the North- west sub region.
