Enugu State Unity Forum (EUF) has commenced a grassroots sensitization and mobilization campaign across the Enugu North Senatorial District in support of Governor Peter Mbah’s re-election bid in 2027.

The group, alongside leaders and residents of the district, also reaffirmed their commitment to the state’s zoning and power-rotation arrangement, insisting that Governor Mbah would complete Enugu East Zone’s turn in office by 2031.

The campaign was unveiled on Monday during the inauguration of the Enugu North Senatorial District chapter of EUF at the Nsukka Local Government Secretariat.

Speaking at the event, the Forum’s Coordinator for Nsukka Zone, Associate Professor Ikechukwu Ibenekwu, said EUF is made up of adult residents of Enugu State who are deeply committed to the good governance being delivered by Governor Mbah.

According to him, the Forum draws membership from diverse backgrounds, including political, professional, religious, and community circles, as well as traders and other interest groups.

“For those of us in Enugu North, our immediate focus is to drive grassroots mobilization and sensitization across all local government areas and political wards in the zone to consolidate support for the governor, whose performance has been widely acknowledged,” Ibenekwu said.

He noted that Governor Mbah’s people-oriented and inclusive style of governance has repositioned the state and simultaneously revitalized critical sectors of the economy.

“What the Forum is doing is simply to reciprocate these commendable efforts by mobilising strong political support for the governor,” he added.

In separate remarks, the chairmen of the six local government areas in Enugu North commended the founders of EUF for recognizing what they described as the governor’s transformative leadership.

The Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr. Jude Asogwa, said Governor Mbah’s inclusive development model, which uses the state’s 260 wards as the basis for distributing democratic dividends, had strengthened support for the governor ahead of the 2027 general election.

He explained that Enugu North, with 102 out of the 260 wards in the state, is benefiting significantly from key projects, including Smart Green Schools, Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, and Farm Estates.

“As a result, development projects are ongoing simultaneously across the three senatorial zones because our governor does not discriminate in his development agenda,” Asogwa said, adding that Governor Mbah has been widely rated as one of the best-performing governors in the country.

Traditional rulers in the district also reiterated their support for the zoning principle, describing Governor Mbah’s second term as necessary to allow Enugu East Zone to complete its turn in office.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the traditional ruler of Nkpunano community in Nsukka LGA, Igwe Patrick Okoro, said all monarchs in the zone were solidly behind Governor Mbah’s re-election, citing his impressive performance in office.

The event featured the official inauguration of EUF executives at the senatorial, local government, and ward levels.

Barrister Friday Omeke administered the oath of office to the Enugu North zonal executive, while Hon. Felix Asadu administered the oath to the local government and ward executives.

The inauguration attracted a large turnout of political leaders and residents from the six local government areas that make up Enugu North Senatorial District.

Prayers were also offered for Governor Mbah, his administration, and the continued progress of Enugu State.
