Captain William Ekong and fellow defender Benjamin Fredericks were expected to arrive at the Super Eagles’ camp in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday night to join the early arrivals as preparations intensify for Thursday’s Play-off semi-final against the Panthers of Gabon.
The early arrivals include defender Calvin Bassey, midfielders Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi, and forwards Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, and Samuel Chukwueze.
Most of the remaining 15 invited players are expected to report on Monday as the three-time African champions’ step up training ahead of what promises to be a thrilling encounter at the Complexe Sportif Prince Heritier Moulay Al Hassan.
The match kicks off at 5 p.m. local time, the same as in Nigeria.
In the other semi-final, Cameroon will face the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the two winners set to meet in the final on Sunday evening at the same venue.
The overall winner will secure Africa’s sole ticket to the Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico next year.
