EFCC Arrests 40 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Niger

Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Bida and Minna Local Government Areas of Niger State.

The Head of Media and Publicity at the EFCC, Mr Dele Oyewale, stated this in a press release issued and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Minna, the Niger State capital. He noted that the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence linking them to suspected fraudulent internet activities.

According to the statement, “Items recovered from them include three cars, eight power-generating sets, one Hisense air conditioner, two power stabilisers, 10 motorcycles, eight computer laptops, four Bluetooth speakers, and 60 Android phones.”

Mr Oyewale further disclosed that fetish items were also recovered from the suspects, which included three calabashes adorned with feathers, traditionally made soap and sponge, a bottle of hot drink, 20 cowries, a waist bead, and four pieces of women’s underwear.

He assured the public that “They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
