A National Assembly member representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, Hon. Bello Isah Ambarurah has described education as the backbone of national development.
The lawmaker was speaking at a presentation of admission letters to one hundred students in Sokoto East Senatorial District sponsored for studies in India by Senator Ibrahim Lamido, (APC) Sokoto East.
He said for every society to develop they must be literate, adding that education is an indispensable tool for human development.
“Education is a human right and a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability”.
According to him, developing countries have made tremendous progress in getting children into classrooms, saying that effective investment in people’s education is critical for investment in human capital that will end extreme poverty among the citizenry.
“Children need socio-emotional technical and digital skills to succeed in today’s world.
Also in his remarks while presenting admissions letters to successful candidates at Command Guest House Sokoto, the representative of Senator Ibrahim Lamido and sole administrator of Goronyo local government Alhaji Kabiru Shehu Sarkin Fulani urged beneficiaries to be alive to their studies and good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria.
“Count yourself lucky among hundreds of you that have undergone written and oral examination, many have tried and failed, your success has proved that there is a bright future ahead.” Senator Lamido has shouldered the responsibility of tuition, feeding, and accommodation throughout your study period.
“We will however continue to evaluate your performance year after year up to the time of your graduation to ensure that investment made on you has not gone in vain ” You should pray for the senator to succeed in all his future endeavors,” Says Sarkin Fulani.
In his address, Hon. Sani Alhaji Yakubu advised beneficiaries to take advantage of the esteem gesture made to them by Senator Lamido, adding it’s the first of its kind in Sokoto East since the advent of democracy in the country.
“You have produced many senators decades ago but none of them has ever thought of doing something like this,” Please concentrate on your studies and prove to the world that you have a vision to achieve.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Kabiru Abubakar thanked Senator Lamido for what he described as a wonderful gesture. He said he and his colleagues would remain grateful to the Senator for impacting their lives.
“We will study hard to justify the huge amount spent on us, ” we will make Senator Lamido proud and we will never let him down, ” It’s our humble prayer for the senator to succeed in all his plans.
