Executive Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, has imposed a curfew on Mangu Metropolis.
According to the LG chairman, the curfew takes effect from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and will run from 8pm to 6am daily until further notice.
Our correspondent learnt that the decision by the LG chairman could not unconnected to the violence in Jos l.
The chairman said the decision followed a careful deliberation with heads of security operatives in the area, adding that it became necessary in order to safeguard lives and property of residents amid prevailing security concerns.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Press and Publicity to the Chairman, Mr. Jeremiah Dakahap, the local government Chairman urged residents to comply fully with the directive.
“Members of the public are advised to stay indoors during the curfew hours and cooperate with security personnel on duty,” the statement said.
Hon. Mwolpun however appealed to residents to go about their lawful activities peacefully during the day and report any suspicious movements or activities to the relevant security agencies, adding that the curfew was aimed at ensuring public safety and security in Mangu town, “ the statement added.
Mangu has witnessed recurring security challenges in recent times.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and support efforts by security agencies to ensure law and order.
Our correspondent reports that Mangu local government is 48 kilometers away from Jos , the Plateau state capital.
