The Delta State Government has evacuated 34 of its indigenes studying at the University of Jos following the recent attacks in Plateau State that claimed several lives and forced the closure of the institution.
Recieving the students, the State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode, said the evacuation became necessary due to the closure of university by the school management.
He expressed relief that the students returned home safely, describing the action as a result of prompt government response and coordination.
“We believe that with God, peace will be restored. When the time comes for you to return to school, you will go back and complete your studies successfully,” he said.
He restated the state government’s commitment to the welfare of Delta students across the country, advising them to remain law-abiding and focused on their academic pursuits.
A student representative and Vice President of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), University of Jos chapter, Comrade Newton Miracle, expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government and all stakeholders involved in the evacuation.
