The Defence Correspondents on Media Outreach led by the Deputy Director Coordination, Media Operation Brig Gen Mohammed Dahiru Abumawashi yesterday visited Headquarters 8 Division Nigeria Army Sokoto.
The team was received and briefed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Joint Taskforce (North West) Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) Maj Gen Godwin Mutkut on general area of operational responsibility of 8 Division and OPHD, numerous operational activities within the Division, inter-agency co-operation, Civil Military Cooperation activities, troops welfare, achievements and other challenges.
Shortly after briefing by the GOC the Media outreach Correspondents proceeded to Headquarters 8 Division Garrison where they were also received by the Commander Brig Gen Alex Tawasimi who accompanied them to the hinterland Forward Operating Bases within Sector 3 Sokoto where they interacted with some rescued kidnapped victims and other local communities.
The team later proceeded to Gusau Zamfara State where the operational Headquarters of Operation HADARIN DAJI is located.
In Zamfara, the team will also visit hinterlands for interactions with the locals to appraise the impact of their feelings towards military operations in their areas.
