The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) and Sultanate Council has in collaboration with ten other Nigerian Muslims Organizations on Thursday rounded off the 10th Sheikh Usmanu Bn Fodiyo week with a lecture titled Qur’an the Global Necessity delivered by Dr. Zakir Naik.

Dr. Naik at the lecture said, the holy Qur’an is the solution for all forms of terrorism and other social vices across the globe.

“It is only in the Qur’an Allah cautioned against harming women and children even at times of hostility, the Qur’an urged beliefs to stand against injustice even if it affects parents or relations.

“The social media, worldwide are today supporting Palestinian course despite the propaganda of the western media which label Palestinian fighters as a terrorist rather than freedom fighters.”

Sheikh Bn Fodiyo Week which is commemorated every year is aimed at reviewing and keeping abreast of the life and teachings of renowned scholar Sheikh Usmanu Bn Fodiyo who established the Sokoto Caliphate and lives over one hundred years ago.

The topic of this year’s lecture was tagged “Qur’an the global necessity” and was delivered by renowned Indian-born Islamic scholar Sheikh Dr. Zakir Naik at the International Conference Center Kasarawa a suburb of Sokoto metropolis.

The Coordinator of NACOMYO Sokoto State Chapter, Malam Shehu Garba in a welcome address commended the sultanate council for the collaborative effort.

He said NACOMYO would continue to partner with his eminence to celebrate the Usmanu Bn Fodiyo week which has since become a yearly event.

The Chairman Organizing Committee, Malam Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sokoto) stated that the theme of this year’s week-long event is rebuilding our society based on our core principles: Lessons from the life of Sokoto jihad leaders.

He said the commemoration of Bn Fodiyo week is so well timed and appropriate as our society needs to learn from the core principles of the Sokoto jihad leaders who were able to establish the largest political entity of the 19th century which radiates beyond Africa.

Maidoki further said the continued occupation and colonization of Palestine by the Zionist forces as well as the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing taking place in Gaza where Hospitals and innocent buildings are targeted for destruction using internationally banned weapons is a clear injustice that Muslims around the world stand against.

“We called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to sever ties with Israel, and the aparthotel regime of the Zionist state as done by countries like Bolivia.

“We are grateful to his eminence the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Sultanate Council for their support and guidance in planning, development, and conducting the 10th edition, particularly the bearing of the logistic cost of the Keynote speaker Dr. Zakir Naik and his son Sheikh Farik Naik who delivered a similar lecture at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.”

Important dignitaries at the ceremony include the representative of the Sokoto state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, the Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mani Malam Mummuni Masamar Mudi, the Emir of Zazzau, the Emir of Kano, the former Secretary to the Federal Government, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed and host of other important dignitaries across the country.
