A Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, has issued a restraining order against the Ganduje Foundation, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Haroun Ibn Sina over plans to establish an independent Hisbah Fisabilillah body.
Also named as defendants in the suit are the Kano State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies in the state.
The order followed a lawsuit filed by the Northern Youth Assembly (NYA), Majalisar Matasan Arewa, challenging the formation and operation of any independent Hisbah organization.
Counsel to the applicants, Barrister Badamasi Sulaiman Gandu, told journalists that the court directed all defendants to halt any further action on the proposed Hisbah body pending the determination of the suit.
He explained that the inclusion of security agencies in the case was to ensure full compliance with the court’s order.
Justice Zuwaira Yusuf has adjourned the matter to December 30, 2025, for further hearing.
