COAS Celebrates Christmas with 8Div Troops in Sokoto

The Chief of Army staff (COAS)Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja has urged officers and men of the Nigerian Army to remain steadfast and sustain the tempo in the fight against terrorism.

He was speaking in Sokoto at 8 Division Nigerian Army Giginya Barracks while celebrating Christmas yuletide with troops, wounded and their families.

Lt. Gen. Lagbaja said the Armed Forces had continued to employ effective strategies for tackling the challenges of insecurity through professional conduct of its officers and men in various theaters of operations.

He disclosed that the Nigerian Army would soon take delivery of Helicopters and other enablers to boost it’s operational capability,

The COAS further pledged his commitment to troops welfare and effort to
stamp out economic saboteurs.

He however urged troops to remain focused, disciplined and loyal to constituted authorities while ensuring that they professionally defeat enemies of the country.

Lt. Gen. Lagbaja commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the Nigerian Army to successfully discharge its constitutional mandates in various formations across the country.

He further expressed his appreciation to the government and good people of Sokoto State for their support to the Nigerian Army in it’s resolved to keep the country together and it’s war on terrorist and other criminal elements in the society.

“Sokoto state will soon be stable without harassment from criminal elements,” I urge people of thé state to continue to support and provide intelligence and useful information to the troops in their fight against enemies.

“We will jot relent in our efforts untill people of sokoto state will sleep with their two eyes closed devoid of fear and anxiety,” he stated.

In his vote of thanks, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Northwest Joint Taskforce Operation Hadarin Daji, Major General Godwin Mutkut expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army staff for the historic visit.

He said, General Lagbaja has been instrumental to execution and commissioning of various projects within the 8 Division area of jurisdiction.

The GOC informed the vising COAS that troops of 8 Division have resolved to discharge their constitutional mandate inline with his command philosophy of professionalism and efficiency.

He commended the COAS vision and commitment to improve welfare of troops at various theaters of operations, while at the same time wishing the chief of Army staff merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.
