CITAD Expresses Readiness to Champion Movement to Improve Standard of Lives for PWDs

The Centre for Information Technology Development (CITAD) says it is ready to champion a movement for improving the standards of lives of people with special needs through opportunities of showcasing their talents.

The Executive Director of the CITAD, Engineer Zakariyya Ya’u made this known during the presentation of prizes to the winners of its competition on creative writing on themes bordering people with special needs.

Engineer Ya’u who was represented by the Project Coordinator for the competition, Sagir Ado Abubakar, emphasized the need for providing platforms for people with special needs to showcase their talents and amplify their voices to the world.

The competition which was organized by CITAD in collaboration with Muryar Adabi and All Poets Network International is aimed at encouraging people with disabilities to write poets and short stories.

Abubakar said 43 works were submitted by the participants which include 22 Poets and 21 short stories, while four emerged winners with two each from both sides.

On his part, the leader of Muryar Adabi and All Poets Network International, Malam Khalid Imam said they are motivated by keen interest among people with special needs to have a platform for sending their messages to the world which gave birth to the collaboration with CITAD to organize the event.

The four winners include Hamza Aminu Abdullahi, Ibrahim Umar Abdulkarim, Alhassan Isah Ahmad, and Badiyya Muhammad.

All the winners received new Android Smart Phones to further help them to improve their writing skills.

The winners expressed their appreciation to CITAD and Muryar Adabi for organizing the competition
