Chairman of Jigawa Elders Forum Dies @ 85

The Chairman of Jigawa State Elders Forum, Alhaji Sulaiman Baffa has died at the age of 85.

The State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi announced the death in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, and made available to newsmen.

The statement revealed that late Baffa died in the early hours of Tuesday, October 2023 after a protracted illness.

Governor Namadi described the death of Sulaiman Baffa as a great loss to the people of Jigawa state and Nigeria.

“Sulaiman Baffa served Nigeria, Jigawa state, and humanity in different capacities,  his sacrifice and selfless commitment to service to humanity will remain indelible in the annals of history.

“The deceased was a well-known banker and administrator who held the positions of managing director of two old-generation banks as well as managing director of the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company before he retired from active service in 1999.

“Late Alhaji Sulaiman Baffa was not just a prominent figure in Jigawa State but also a highly respected elder statesman and a dedicated servant of the people. His life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the betterment of our dear state and its people.

“As Chairman of the Jigawa Elders Forum, Alhaji Sulaiman Baffa played a pivotal role in fostering unity, understanding, and collaboration among various communities and stakeholders in our state. His wisdom, guidance, and tireless efforts were instrumental in resolving conflicts and addressing the concerns of our people. He was a true bridge-builder and a source of inspiration to many.”

Governor Mallam Umar Namadi extends his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and associates of Alhaji Sulaiman Baffa. Also, pray to Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi, and also give his family fortitude to bear the loss.

The deceased has since been buried in Kano State, after a funeral prayer held at Kofar Kudu, in the place of the emir of Kano.
