Bye-election: Gwaram Set Agenda, Sign Peace Accord

Gwaram local government area (LGA) calls for peace and shun violence as it goes into bye-election.

Gwaram Development Forum (GDF) in collaboration and partnership with Organization for community Civic Engagement (OCCEN) organized peace accord in Gwaram LGA ahead of Gwaram’s bye election to fill its vacant seat at the House of Representatives sequel to demise of our former member late Hon Yuguda Hassan Kila.

This meeting comprised Gwaram’s DPO, traditional and religious leaders of Gwaram local government, both chairman parties of APC, PDP and PRP and their candidates Representatives.

It’s also involved non governmental organizations of different Angeles of Gwaram local government, media aids of different parties to witnesses and share what’s happened in the meeting.

The Chairman Board of Trustees, Gwaram Development Forum and convener of the occasion, Comrade Muhammad Musbahu Basirka sue for peace, unity and love among the people of Gwaram before and after election.

He said it is good to maintain peaceful coexistence among people and stop the destruction of lives and properties, adding that elections will come and go, but we still remain together as brothers.

“Let’s vote and don’t fight as election no be war, we should remember that no any nation, state, local government or community with meaningful development under violence situations.

“Go and support, canvas and vote wisely for any candidate of your choice.

“Peace is all we need in our various communities and local government as a whole,” he said. 

In his response the DPO of Gwaram commended the organizers and added that the town hall meeting come at the right time.

He also calls upon all the relevant stakeholders to continue sensitizing their people ahead of the election.

In their separate response, the district head of Basirka, Alh. Muhammad Suleman Dan-amar din Dutse and that of Galambi, Alh. Haruna Shitu, all they call the people to maintain law and over and avoid anything that will cause violence.

The Chief Imam of Gwaram, Malam Musa Uzairu Gwaram quoted several verses of al-qur’ani that prevent Muslim from doing anything that will cause violence.

At the end of the meeting, political party representatives signed the peace accord, with the two district heads, Chief imam and security agencies as witness.
