BUA Group Assures Sokoto Governor of More Interventions

BUA Group Chairman, Alhaji Abdussamad Isiyaka Rabiu on Wednesday visited Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu to congratulate him on his election victory and assured him of more interventions to develop the state.

Alh. Rabi’u briefed Governor Aliyu on the affairs of the cement company and as well to seek more areas of collaboration between the two partners.

“Sokoto is where we generate wealth and create employment, there is a need for us to come together and join hands with the present administration to support one another to get the prosperity the state so desires.

“It was six months since when I came to Sokoto and what I am seeing today is a wonderful and near-total transformation of the state capital.

“Aside from the memorandum of understanding we signed with the state, we also have several areas we intend to support the government in its quest to move the state forward.

“We have been supportive in the past and we will continue to provide needed support to our host Communities’, we engaged in infrastructural development, Provision of scholarships, water supply, electrification, and development of health facilities to various Communities in the state.

“Aside from the fact that we have an investment in the state, we also have a strong bond that necessitated me to come and congratulate His Excellency.

“I want to intimate His Excellency that, Sokoto cement is one of our largest investments in the group and I am very passionate and proud to have such an investment in Sokoto state.”

“As you are aware Sokoto Cement has four lines running and we hope to commission the 5th line by January 2024 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured us of his readiness to come to Sokoto personally to commission the project”

“So we need to inform you Your Excellency of the visit and to seek your support and cooperation, as your support is key to the success of the commissioning ceremony in January 2024.”

In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu commended BUA group for its empowerment program to its Communities which according to him is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

The governor also urged the group to consider additional needs of its history, especially in the areas of employment and human capital development.

“I appreciate BUA  for its different interventions to the state, which includes donations of transformers, donations of 10 brand new Hilux Vehicles for security and construction of roundabout a in the state capital to complement Government efforts.”

The Governor further appealed to the group Chairman to revisit the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the state and the company.
