Bichi Emir Urges Philanthropists to Support PWDs, Less Privilege

The Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero OFR has urged wealthy individuals and voluntary organizations in the society to redouble efforts in assisting People with Disabilities and the less privileged in their midst.

He made the call while launching the presentation of twenty mechanized handicapped wheelchair machines donated to disabled persons in Bichi Emirate by the committed youths for Better Nigeria in collaboration with the office of the Executive Director, National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB) in his palace.

The Emir quoted some verses from the Holy Qur’an that spoke on the significance of assisting the needy.

He commended the donors for the gesture which he described as timely and will assist the beneficiaries in easing the hardship they are facing in their daily engagements.

Emir Nasir Ado Bayero charged the beneficiaries to use them judiciously and pledged that the Emirate would keep monitoring them to ensure that none of them was sold out.

He also urged the committed youths for Better Nigeria and NFVCB to always remember Bichi Emirate in all their activities.

Presenting the machines to the Emir the National President of committed youths for Better Nigeria Ambassador Ibrahim I. Ibrahim said his organization and NFVCB decided to donate the wheelchair machines to disabled persons in Bichi Emirate to aid their disabilities.

Ambassador Ibrahim said the Emir of Bichi’s keen interest in humanity gave them the courage to select his Emirate for the gesture.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of NFVCB, Alhaji Adetayo Thomas urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the machines and commended the Emir of Bichi for his commitment to promoting the wellbeing of his People.

The guest speaker at the occasion Prof. Isa Jibrin Diso of Bayero University Kano, represented by Malam Ibrahim Abdulkarim charged people with disabilities to tighten their belts in seeking knowledge and other socio-economic programs in order to be self-reliant.

The beneficiaries of the mechanized wheelchair machines were drawn from nine local Government areas of Bichi Emirate.
