The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, has reduced the cost of kidney dialysis from ₦40,000 to ₦12,000 per session.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Koli, the Head of Public Relations Unit of the Hospital, and made available to journalists in Bauchi.
According to the statement, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin has expressed optimism over the programme’s impact, saying that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare had not only ensured the availability of consumables in large quantities but also provided a new dialysis machine to support the hospital’s efforts.
He stated that the initiative showcases the government’s commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, especially during these trying times, adding that the development which is as part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is aimed at offering relief to the patients who are grappling with kidney-related ailments.
Prof Jibrin said that the initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial strain on families and improve the overall health outcomes for patients..
“This initiative showcases the government’s commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, especially during these trying times.Over 45 beneficiaries have already accessed the subsidized services, with many expressing profound gratitude for the intervention,” he said.
The CMD said that by equipping the hospital with required and needed facilities, ATBUTH is now poised to deliver uninterrupted services to a growing number of patients from Bauchi and neighbouring states.
Jibril further said that the initiative aligned with the hospital’s mission of providing affordable and high-quality healthcare while strengthening public trust in the healthcare system.
He assured the public that ATBUTH will continue to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to sustain and expand similar programs for the benefit of all citizens.
