Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, on Sunday, toured several Ramadan Feeding Centres across the metropolis, where he expressed satisfaction with both the quality and quantity of meals provided to beneficiaries.

According to a statement by Abubakar Bawa, the Director General of Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, some of the centres visited by the Governor include Clapperton Road, Lodge Road, Gidan Dallatu, Specialist Hospital, as well as the Madunka area.

He said Governor Aliyu expressed satisfaction with both the quality and quantity of food being served at the centres.

“I am very much satisfied with what I have seen in all the centres we visited,” the Governor said.

“There is a tremendous improvement this year compared to last year’s food served in some of the centres.”

The Governor called on the feeding centre committees to continue to work diligently in order to achieve the set objectives of the program.

“The idea behind this program is to assist the needy with a place to break their fast with ease; therefore, we need extra commitment from the feeding centre committees.”he added

He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to give the Ramadan Feeding Program the deserved attention, considering the daily turnout being recorded at the centres.

The Governor further renewed his appeal to well-to-do individuals to establish feeding centres in their communities to assist the needy in their respective areas.

It will be recalled that the state government this year increased the number of feeding centres from 155 to 170 in the metropolis, following various requests from different communities.

The state government has set aside one billion naira for this year’s Ramadan Feeding Program, with 34,000 plates to be served daily across the metropolis.
