Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State, has lauded the peaceful, rancour-free and inclusive conduct of the state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.
Chief Solomon Iorpev, the Technical Adviser to Governor Alia on Media Publicity and Strategic Communication, in a statement on Tuesday said he gave the commendation while addressing delegates at the conclusion of the congress held on Saturday at the IBB Square in Makurdi.
Governor Alia praised party stakeholders for their maturity and commitment to unity throughout the exercise.
He also acknowledged the presence and oversight of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Sam Egwu, who monitored the process, as well as the National Working Committee (NWC) election congress committee, chaired by Dr. Auwal Isheye, for ensuring transparency and credibility.
Describing the congress as a reflection of the party’s democratic ideals, Governor Alia said he was pleased to witness members coming together in a spirit of cooperation and shared purpose.
He charged the newly elected state executive committee to work selflessly for the progress and unity of the party.
Reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the governor called on party faithful to remain steadfast in their support for the administration.
He expressed confidence in the president’s leadership, stating that he believes President Tinubu will fulfill his promises to Nigerians and deserves a second term to consolidate ongoing reforms and policies.
Several stakeholders at the event, including Chief Engr. BAI Gemade, Sen. Gabriel Suswam, Sen. Ameh Ebute, Gen. India Garba, Chief Steven Lawani, and Chief Emmanuel Jime, commended Governor Alia’s leadership and pledged their continued support to strengthen the APC and deliver democratic dividends to the people of Benue State.
The congress ended peacefully, with party leaders expressing optimism about the future of the APC in the state.
