Akwa-Ibom Governor, Umo Eno Sacks All State Commissioners, Dissolves Cabinet

News Desk

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has sacked the entire cabinet members he inherited from his immediate-past predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, saying there was a need for a new season to begin.

Recall that former Governor Emmanuel had underscored the need for his cabinet members to stay behind to stabilise the new administration under the new Governor Eno at the time he left office on May 29, 2023.

And taking a retrospective look at their contributions to stabilise the government under his watch, Governor Eno gave the inherited cabinet members a pass mark at the weekend’s valedictory State Executive Council (SEC) meeting at the Exco Chambers of the Government House, Uyo, the state capital, and wished them well in their future endeavours.

“For me, if you were to be changed based on non-performance, I think none of the commissioners would go, because all of you have delivered, and that’s why the ARISE Agenda has succeeded.

“But we must come to the end of a season, start another season and keep moving,” the governor stressed, and urged the outgone SEC members to continue to be good ambassadors of the state and government, even outside the administration.

The governor, it was learnt, would soon send the list of new Commissioner-nominees and Special Advisers to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for clearance after meeting with elders, leaders and stakeholders in the State.
