Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has congratulated teachers across the state on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, describing their contributions to the education and development of Benue as invaluable.
Governor Alia, in a message issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, said the 2026 World Teachers’ Day theme, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,” underscores the enduring role of teachers in building generations and shaping the future of communities and nations.
The Governor said his administration’s recognition and support for teachers remain central to achieving meaningful progress in the education sector.
According to him, standing with teachers must go beyond words and include practical measures that enable them to perform their duties with confidence and dignity.
He cited the recruitment of teachers into public schools and the renovation of schools across the state as some of the measures being implemented by his administration to improve teaching and learning conditions.
Governor Alia said improving school facilities while strengthening the teaching workforce reflects his administration’s commitment to providing children across Benue with a more conducive environment for learning.
He assured teachers that education would remain a major priority of his administration, stressing that the quality of education provided today would directly determine the human capital and opportunities available to the next generation of Benue citizens.
While appreciating teachers for their dedication and sacrifices, the governor urged them to remain committed to their noble profession and continue nurturing the minds and talents of young people across the state.
Governor Alia wished all teachers in Benue State a happy World Teachers’ Day.
