Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the creation of eight new Village Head positions under Koko District in Koko/Besse Local Government Area of the state.
The approval was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar Dutsinmari, and issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
The newly created traditional institutions and their holders are:
- Kabiru Sama’ila Danduste — Hakimin Dandashe
- Salihu Bello — Hakimin Unguwar Albarkawa
- Sama’ila Firchin Tukura — Hakimin Unguwar Gwadabawa
- Abdullahi Salihu — Hakimin Unguwar Wurya
- Mustapha Muhammad — Hakimin Unguwar Illo
- Ahmed Salihu — Hakimin Unguwar Mallamawa
- Musa Salihu — Hakimin Kawo
- Ibrahim Salihu Koko (Sarkin Kudun Koko) — Hakimin Unguwar Rafin Kada
According to Dutsinmari, the appointments were made in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, particularly Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which empower local governments to create Village Head positions.
The commissioner urged the newly appointed traditional office holders to uphold discipline, honesty, transparency and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He assured them of the continued support and cooperation of Governor Idris and the ministry, saying their appointments were based on their records and demonstrated capacity to serve their respective communities.
The state government, he added, remains committed to strengthening traditional institutions, promoting effective grassroots administration and advancing peace, unity and development across Kebbi State.
