Hundreds of women in Gwarzo Local Government Area received N50,000 business grants under the Kano State Government’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Program, an initiative aimed at boosting small businesses, reducing poverty and cushioning the effects of economic hardship.

On Friday, the Zonal Information Officer, Gwarzo Zone, Auwalu Musa Yola, reports that the distribution ceremony, held at the Islamic Centre in Gwarzo, was led by the Executive Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho Gwarzo, in line with the directive of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who introduced the monthly business grant scheme to support women entrepreneurs across the state.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Gwarzo said the program reflects the state government’s commitment to improving the socio-economic wellbeing of women by providing sustainable opportunities for financial independence.

He noted that the initiative is designed to strengthen women-owned businesses, promote self-reliance, and contribute to grassroots economic development.

The council chairman assured residents that the local government would continue to implement the program with transparency, fairness, and accountability to ensure that deserving beneficiaries receive the support they deserve.

He also urged the beneficiaries to invest the grants wisely in their businesses to expand their enterprises, increase their earnings, and improve their families’ welfare.

Several beneficiaries commended Governor Yusuf and the Gwarzo Local Government administration for the intervention, describing the initiative as timely and impactful amid prevailing economic challenges.

They expressed optimism that the financial support would enable them to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Program is part of the Kano State Government’s broader strategy to alleviate poverty, stimulate economic growth, and promote entrepreneurship through sustainable support for small-scale business owners, particularly women.
